A Coffee Born from Nature and Nurtured by Community
Our Amici Coffee No 2, is born out of a strong set of principles relating to sustainability, community and quality. This coffee is cultivated by dedicated families in the Capucas region, who, alongside their coffee farms, nurture bee hives that play a vital role in the ecosystem. The bees don’t just produce honey, they also enhance the coffee farm’s productivity by pollinating the coffee plants and surrounding shade trees like plum, banana, pepeto, and guama. This shows a more natural way of creating coffee whilst adding to the ecosystem in a rewarding way.
Handcrafted from Harvest to Cup
The journey of our No 2 roast begins with the careful hand-picking of ripe cherries by the hardworking men and women of the community. The cherries are meticulously gathered at the producer’s homes before making their way to the cooperative’s wet processing plant. There, the pulping and drying processes bring out the coffee’s full potential. Drying takes place in COCAFCAL solar dryers, where the beans bask in the sun for 15 to 22 days, depending on the weather. Every day, the beans are lovingly raked to ensure even drying and prevent unwanted fermentation, preserving the coffee’s pure and vibrant taste.
