7 Benefits of Drinking Coffee (in moderation of course)!

Coffee, coffee, coffee, we love the stuff here at Amici and not just because we’re a cafe and grill that serves it! Just like anything nice in life, when consumed in moderation, you can feel the benefits without overdoing it and potentially turning that good thing into something negative. For example avocados are full of ‘good fats’ which your body needs but if you over indulge then you can have too much of it therefore eliminating the positive purpose that was initially intended. This is much the same with coffee too. We wanted to take this opportunity though, to show you some benefits of coffee – you never know, you might even learn something new! So here goes.

1. You Could Live Longer!

Some research has suggested that avid coffee drinkers have had less cases of life threatening diseases such as kidney disease, coronary heart disease, strokes, diabetes and more too. Studies are still developing as to the exact reasons why these connections might be made however it’s interesting nonetheless. Of course excessive coffee consumption is going to be bad for you so we would always suggest drinking in daily moderation.

2. You Could Be Doing Your Liver a Favour!

Coffee is said to have a protective effect on your liver. Research shows that coffee drinkers are more likely to have liver enzyme levels within a healthy range than people who don’t drink coffee. Pretty interesting stuff this isn’t it. Who’d have thought that having a cup of coffee a day may actually be doing your body a favour too!

3. Coffee Can Improve Physical Performance

If you have a coffee before going to the gym or doing some form of exercise, research has suggested you can enhance your performance by 11-12% as a result. Sounds like the perfect reason to stop off at Amici Cafe before hitting the gym if you ask us!

4. Coffee Has Weight Loss Properties

Coffee contains magnesium and potassium, which helps the human body use insulin, regulating blood sugar levels and reducing your craving for sugary treats and snacks. Removing these cravings means you eat less rubbish, therefore keeping your calorie deficit going. Drinking coffee of course isn’t a solution to all your weight loss prayers but it’s interesting to know it could help you in some form of way.

5. Coffee Helps You Stay Focussed and Alert

If you’re drinking moderate amounts of coffee on a daily basis (between 1 and 6 cups), it’s a good way of keeping your brain awake and alert. This is one of the more common ways people use coffee as a means of ‘perking up’.

6. Coffee is Good For Your Brain Health

Some studies and research papers have shown that high caffeine levels in your blood could reduce the risk of Alzheimer disease and of dementia too.

7. It Tastes DIVINE!

This is arguably the most important point to make. Coffee tastes amazingly good and there’s so many different types and ways to make one. The options are endless and that’s what makes it so great. From espresso to a skinny flavoured latte, there’s a coffee for everyone.

So, we hope you might have learnt a little something about coffee in this article. We are not health professionals.
